WE ARE OMNIUM
On Friday, December 20, 2024, at 6pm, the non-profit cultural association Omnium Art Department will have the pleasure of presenting and celebrating the activities carried out over the course of the year. These initiatives have taken place both within the prestigious Venetian context and at the exhibition space in Udine.
The event will be held at the Nimis Gallery (UD), offering an opportunity to reflect on the successes and projects that have marked a year of art, innovation and human connections.
Among the most significant events of 2024 is the exhibition Parallel Visuals, dedicated to Vittorio Menditto, an Italian contemporary artist who has transformed his personal experiences into powerful and evocative abstract artworks. Despite a tragic motorcycle accident in 2006 that left him quadriplegic, Menditto discovered in art a means to express his profound resilience and ability to overcome adversity. His artistic production represents a journey of introspection, communication and rebirth, establishing him as a prominent figure in the Italian contemporary art scene. Menditto creates his extraordinary paintings using an adapted helmet.
Parallel Visuals, inaugurated alongside the 60th Venice Biennale, celebrates Menditto’s remarkable ability to use abstract language and color as tools for universal dialogue, offering the public works of extraordinary emotional and artistic intensity.
Another major project to be presented is Relate, born from the personal experience of Makhloufi, a designer and innovator who transformed a tragedy into a powerful source of creative inspiration. After a severe road accident in 2015 that left him paraplegic, Makhloufi embarked on an extraordinary path of resilience, innovation and transformation. From his experience emerged the idea of designing custom 3D prosthetics, using advanced technologies and a visionary approach. Following an extensive rehabilitation period at the Spinal Unit of Niguarda Hospital in Milan, Makhloufi caught the attention of occupational therapists and initiated a collaboration to create tailored prostheses for other patients. Today his work represents a concrete and innovative resource, supported by a database of projects that continue to improve the lives of people facing the challenges of disability.
Relate is much more than a design project: it is a platform of relationships, a network of human and professional connections that fosters cooperation, sharing and the breaking down of physical and psychological barriers. It presents a vision that goes beyond disability, transforming it into an opportunity for growth, creativity and dialogue.
The event on December 20 will be a moment of encounter and reflection, dedicated to art and the extraordinary human capacity to transform challenges into opportunities. Omnium Art Department celebrates a year of projects, relationships and artistic commitment, offering the public an exclusive chance to connect with stories of courage, innovation, and beauty.
