Born twice
Through the exhibition Born Twice, Vittorio Menditto tells a deeply personal journey of fractures and reconstructions, transforming his most intimate experiences into a shared vision.
Color by color, shape by shape, his works navigate pain and move beyond it, opening space for beauty and new possibilities. His painterly gestures, never random, express the gentle strength of someone who has chosen to begin anew. Born Twice gives form to a story that extends beyond Menditto himself, resonating with anyone who has faced the need to restart. A rebirth first of the body, then of the soul, made possible by the art that saved and transformed him. His paintings carry this silent force: they do more than tell a story, they bear witness to the journey of someone who has found new breath where there seemed to be none.
In 2006 a tragic accident left Vittorio Menditto quadriplegic. Yet it was his determination that changed the course of his life. When painter Vincenzo Gualtieri noticed some of his drawings, he invited him to join an art course at the hospital. From that moment, through art and his will to start over, Vittorio found a new purpose, transforming fragility into creative strength.
The Vernissage
Echoing his work in a silent dialogue are the Murano glass sculptures by artist Tommaso Dognazzi, special guest of the exhibition, whose transparencies and reflections harmonize with the paintings.
The exhibition opening will take place on May 10 at 12pm at Omnium Art Department in Calle San Biasio, followed by a continuation at the association’s Castello 925 venue, featuring a two-voice concert by accordion masters Massimo Pividori and Fabio Bramezza and a reflective session led by Dr. Luca Caldironi, inspired by the themes of the exhibition.
Coinciding with the opening of the Venice Architecture Biennale, the inauguration will make Born Twice a symbol of reconstruction: just as in architecture, life can be reshaped, using fractures as the foundation for new creation.
